Policies
The rules, the fees and the things worth knowing before you book. All of it is the lodge's own; none of it has been softened.
Booking and payment
A credit card is required to hold every reservation. Cards on file are charged the full amount ten days before arrival. A copy of the card stays on file against damage or shortages, and each unit is inventoried after departure.
A 3% surcharge is added to all credit card transactions. Cash and cheques are accepted at no charge.
A lodging and room tax came into effect on 1 April 2026 and may affect rates booked before that date. Rates are subject to change.
Cancellations
Cancellations received within ten days of arrival are refunded only if the room or cabin can be re-booked, less a $25 cancellation fee. This applies to cancellations for illness and family reasons as well.
No refunds are given for early departure, including for illness, or for additional guests who cancel.
Minimum stays
Two nights minimum at weekends. Some holidays require three. Exceptions are possible — call and ask.
Arriving and leaving
Check-in is from 3:00 pm. Check-out is 11:00 am. After checking out you are welcome to use the lake and the lodge for the rest of the day.
The office is not staffed after 5:00 pm. If you are arriving later than that, call 715-276-6091 in advance and arrange it with a member of staff.
Who can book
You must be 18 or over to reserve or check into a room. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Children under 10 stay at no charge. Additional guests are $20 per night plus tax.
Pets
No pets in the lodge. Pets are welcome in the cabins for a $50 per pet cleaning fee.
Smoking
Waubee Lake Lodge is a smoke-free resort. Smoking is permitted only on the deck or patio of each unit. If staff suspect that smoking of any kind has taken place inside a room or cabin, a $200 fine is applied to the bill.
Wi-Fi and mobile signal
Neither is guaranteed. Service is often patchy — it depends on how many people are on it, on the weather, and on the fact that the lodge is inside the national forest. Plan for that rather than around it.
Weather and power
This is the north woods. Brief power cuts and rough weather are not unusual. When it happens the restaurant, the bar and part of the lodge run on a generator. These are outside the lodge's control and no refunds are given for them.
Privacy
Waubee Lake Lodge does not share, rent or sell personal information given to it.
